New York Egg Market Faces Steady Trade Amid Storage Rush

New York May 17 The egg market shows steadiness as storage eggs flood the trade with receipts for March 1 to last week totaling 1,587,089 cases versus 1,783,832 last year. Monday to Friday sales ranged from 20,588 to 46,997 cases, with prices holding despite daily fluctuations. Northern stocks fetch extra firsts around 21 to 22 cents, with primes in the 18 to 21 cent range. Ohio and Illinois lots sold at 19 to 21 1/2 cents as warm weather fuels two storage grades while trade sources project a large winter trade and solid foundation for values.

Tenn Berry Movement boosts east Tennessee strawberry and carrot shipments

In Dayton Tennessee on May 17 more than 200 cars of berries have been loaded and shipped from the east Tennessee fruit belt with Evensville Spring City and Chattanooga the main contributors. A record 65 cars were loaded Monday, 48 cars left on special trains in the evening but were delayed by a wreck. The crop has widened distribution to far western and eastern markets, with prices from 2.50 to 2.75 delivered, and shipments continuing for the next three to four weeks as the flush of the season approaches.

Onions Lack Keeping Quality and Prices Ease in Chicago
