Arkansas Berries Begin From Early Producing Sections
Bald Knob Ark May 8 The first express carload of strawberries from the 1931 crop left Bald Knob last Saturday consisting of 448 crates largely Klondykes and selling 4.75 per crate. Rain last week delayed the opening of the harvest and lack of sunshine produced many white sides though size was satisfactory. Current loadings show better color and some exceptional yields are expected as drought damaged fields recover. Warload shipments from this point in 1932 are expected to rise over 1981 levels with about 2000 acres of first year berries and 1000 acres of second year fields.
