Outlook for balance of onion deal bright says Piowaty
Chicago March 5 Carl Piowaty of Piowaty Brothers Inc said after a National Union Association meeting in Toledo that the onion market looks favorable for the balance of the deal. He noted a shortage in most states with about 3 000 cars in holdings as of February 20, two thousand in New York Michigan and Massachusetts, and a thousand in the western states of poor quality. He warned supplies are tight given Michigan's large area and normal shrinkage, with terminal markets carrying many inferior onions depressing current prices. He predicted a rise once the poor onion surplus clears by mid next week and added Texas reports show no Texas onions reaching.
