Cabbage acreage across Mobile Baldwin and Washington counties in southern Alabama is up over last year with some stations reporting increases of 30 to 40 percent. The crop is progressing toward a March 25 main spring harvest as weather warms, with shipping expected to rise from Mobile and Theodore and other points. In Arnandville Alabama 200 acres are planted with freezes last week and mid January hurting prospects. 25 percent damage estimated, yet a 50 car shipment is forecast this season after prior year’s 20 cars.

Jacksonville Jan 21 Florida cabbage acreage is estimated 40 to 50 percent short of last year due to previous season losses and abundant cold storage stocks. Movement to form national fruit jobbers association
In Memphis on January 21 a group from outside the Western Fruit Jobbers Association area began planning a national body to cover all Eastern markets. An attempt to extend the Western line to reach markets west of the Ohio River to Pittsburgh was rejected by convention officials.
