Cabbage and New Potatoes at San Benito
San Benito Texas reports $55 per ton for cabbage with $65 fob quotes as fresh shipments move from the South Texas area. Six cars sent last week and ten or more expected this week while some crop matures slowly and warnings issued against cutting immature stock. First new potatoes shipped by J P Bliff via Southern Produce Co. four cents per pound offered locally. Express cabbage movement light due to carrot movement, about 25 crates daily. Tomatoes about 800 to 1,000 crates moved last week with local price per crate noted. Beans averaged 400 hampers per day with middling grades at $1 per bushel.

Prices at country cheese boards declined about to per pound across all styles though the drop reflects holiday buying lull rather than supply demand changes. Export demand picked up slightly with several cars moving to eastern markets as jobbers cut back purchases. Plymouth Call Board sales included 255 Long horns at 23c 10 Young Americas at 28c 100 Twins at 22 1/4c 500 Daisies at 28c 140 Squares at 22 1/4c and 253 Squares at 22c.

Kalamazoo Celery Growers' Association gains 48 members
John Hybels of Kalamazoo Michigan, secretary and manager of the Kalamazoo Celery Growers' Association, reports rapid growth since formation last season. Starting with 19 members, the group now has 48 and expects about 100 for next season. This year about 180 carloads were shipped, with better prices despite lower quality and car service challenges.
