Big gas strike near Cody reported by Enalpac and Gaa Co

Reports from Cody say a gas strike was brought in at a well near the Oregon basin reservoir about ten miles from town. Local management offered no confirmation but did not deny the gas inflow, with sources claiming a flow large enough for commercial use and potential shipment to Cody for fuel and light. The company reportedly has another large well on Dry Creek near Wiley and continues exploration efforts. operator claims remain reticent.

Dog Saves Life of Davis After Horse Plunge

Rook Springs reports former U S Marshall L G Davis of Saratoga plunged into a four foot ditch while riding an alfalfa field. His horse toppled him and pinned him as he fought to free himself. His dog jumped into the ditch, bit the horse, and aided Davis until he could mount again. He escaped with minor injuries and plans to recover, valuing his loyal dog above a horse.

No Wage Scale Agreement At Sheridan Yet

Sheridan September 4. Wage scale conference between operators and coal miners in the northern Wyoming district proceeds amicably but no agreement reached. Labor Day Parade Transforms Sheridan Celebration

Sheridan Wyoming held a Labor Day event with a citywide parade and athletic meet. Key speakers included Edward Doyle Colorado labor leader James Morgan and Thomas Ofbeon former president United the Workers of Wyoming. A street carnival followed with streets roped for dancing as bands performed.

Old shepherdder found dead at Upton Afton

Al Newcomb, 72, was found dead in his one room home in Afton by Marshall John Miles on Tuesday noon. He had been ill with a cold since early summer and had worked as a shepherd since 1907, often unemployed in recent years.

New City Hall at Evanston Ready

Evanston reports major progress on its new city hall. The $25,000 structure by contractor G. M. Carruth shows modern, steam heated design with offices for the city clerk council chamber marshal fire department and prison cells on the first floor. Conductor Killed in Burlington Train Derailment

Conductor C C Hon, 16, of Burlington died after injuries from a derailment in the Gillette yards at 11:35 PM Thursday. He was transported to hospital in Schenectady but did not survive. exact cause of the derailment remains undetermined.
