In Junta Colorado on October 21 William Hardesty foreman of Rival Sheep company shot Peter Arnold a sheepman four times. One bullet severed an artery but Hardesty staunched the bleeding and summoned a doctor. Arnold later refused medical aid as officers arrived. The quarrel began over range rights.
