Rawlins Wyoming October 2 Prison mobs seize Frank Wigfall a Black prisoner drag him from his cell rope around neck toss him from third tier to death Inquest later could not identify participants Warden Alston notes guards lack arms and mob threat followed.
In Rawlins Wyoming on October 2 1934 Frank Wigfall an African American who attacked 78 year old Mrs Esther Higgins was lynched by convicts at the state penitentiary while a mob gathered at the jail. Guards were distracted and an improvised noose was used to suspend Wigfall from the balcony as the convicts returned to work. The coroner’s jury could not assign blame for the lynching. Wigfall had previously served two assault sentences in the state and his attack on Mrs Higgins left her in a pitiful condition.
The weather bureau chief R Q Grant frowns over early autumn gloom as leaves fall and Jack Frost begins his work of destruction. He predicts clear weather soon but warns frostier nights ahead, with trees bare and children kicking through fallen foliage.
Automobilists accused of speed mania face police scrutiny. Stutzman, arrested by Sergeant Talbott and Officer O'Brien, was cited after driving by at twenty five mph near the station and fined ten dollars. In Denver weeks earlier he struck two women, killing one and injuring the other.

New York expert E Rittenhouse addressed the National Conservation Congress in Indianapolis on October 2 stating that conserving human life should be the top national issue. He warned of 659000 annual deaths from preventable causes and urged sanitations and public health measures to curb race deterioration and life waste.
