Plot to Rescue W. W. Prisoners Frustrated by Marshal

Chicago reports a failed escape plot during inmate transfers at Cook County Jail. A man identified as J D Russell and a 16 year old girl were arrested after a note to guards hinted at outside action. William D Haywood, I W W secretary treasurer, was later linked to the note. Tulsa reports ash response as Knights of Liberty form in northeastern Oklahoma to counter I W W agitation. A masked group flogged and dispersed seventeen I W W members into Osage hills, with similar actions planned elsewhere.

Ship Builders Escape Draft

Washington November 10 plans to retain ship workers for ship building were announced after a Crowder navy conference. A special qualified list will exempt ship workers from military service while employed on government projects and the war department will return drafted workers to ship plants.

Labor union bans foreign parentage workers in AFL plan

Buffalo November convention of the building trades department of the AFL adopted a resolution barring from genuine labor ranks workers of foreign parentage who are not American or Canadian citizens or who have not declared intent to become such. The measure, proposed by James Duncan of the Granite Cutters union, was adopted unanimously to prevent labor agitators and groups like the I W W from gaining strength.

In Powis Missouri on November 10 the Woman's National Aviation Home guard prepares a Legion of Death for St Louis women aiming for a future strength of one million. The group is named the Woman's National Aviation Home guard and seeks aims beyond aviation.

U S Agents Raid Teuton Ship Offices in Hoboken

U S Department of Justice officials raided the North German Lloyd Steamship Company quarters in Hoboken New Jersey seizing trunks bags and stored effects of officers and men. Agents smashed the main door and began a thorough search for suspected documents rumored to be hidden among the stored property. Several raiders took part in a prior raid on Hamburg American Line offices in New York.

Laramie Outscores Cheyenne 28 to 0 in Local Showdown

Hospital Hit as German Bombers Attack Zuydcoote

Officials report German aviators dropped bombs on a French hospital at Zuydcoote in the Nord department, killing seven staff members and wounding nine.
