Chicago March 9 Railway labor leaders urged the public to prevent a repeat of strikes and lockouts by blocking what they called a coordinated push by capital against labor. They proposed regional control boards as a med iation step while denying change in national agreements.
Ardmore Oklahoma March 9 Clara Smith Hamon faces trial for the murder of Jake L Hamon. Judge T W Champion set a right of way for the proceeding with jurors to be examined starting at 9 am. Mrs Hamon attends as a witness while her case draws intense local attention.
Cincinnati March 9 The head of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks Freight Handlers Express and Station Employees says new legislation will force railroad managers to follow railway labor board decisions. He warns roads in financial distress may cut wages, and Congress must add teeth to the Cummins-Hisch act to prevent transport disruption.
Chicago March 9 Information from the railway labor department of the American Federation of Labor shows major railroads planning wage cuts for all employees The statement by Bert M Jewell indicates many eastern railroads contemplate reductions and a report will be prepared for railway groups St Louis March 9 Wages on the Missouri Kansas Texas railroad will be cut effective April 10 affecting about 8000 workers A conference with employee representatives will be held in Denison Texas March 26 to discuss changes

Lincoln March 9 The Nebraska house moved the soldier relief bill to third reading. It authorizes a $2,000,000 state investment with interest paid to the treasurer of a wartime soldiers organization to fund emergency relief for veterans and families.
A Riga dispatch reports Petrograd captured by revolutionaries with Bolshevik leaders escaping by motor car. Soviet troops suffered heavy losses at Krasnoye Selo and Gatchina. Fortresses Kasnaya Gorka and Oranienbaum are reported as fallen. In Ruthenia, insurgents gain support as forces retreat toward Vitebsk and Minsk.
St Paul dispatch reports Mrs. D. O. Pierce elected mayor of Goodhue Minnesota and Mrs Mary Sin chosen for similar post in Winton where Mrs Wilhelmina Hill named city clerk as village elections return.
