Lieut. Col. Samuel T. Ansell formerly of Fort D. A. Russell submitted his resignation to War Secretary Baker. Ansell has led the push within the War Department for reform of military justice to make trials more humane.
President Wilson shows hope for quick progress in Shantung provisions after talks with Japan. Senator Spencer reports informal discussions may satisfy China and ease senate opposition. White House and State Department offer no details as reservations in ratification are discussed without a draft.
In Frontier Park Denver the 1919 ladies relay race nears finish as Kitty Canutt leads with a string of horses and high payouts. If she finishes in the money this afternoon she will be the world champion rider and win the cup. rivals Loraine Trickey Onish and Donna Card Glover Onish trail with smaller totals.
President Wilson informed the Senate that American troops in Siberia are a vital element in restoring and maintaining the Siberian railroad and aiding allied operations with Japan. He noted troops near Vladivostok Verkhneudinsk and Marbin provide protection while neutralizing threats to order and the line, with Graves commanding about 10,000 men.
The new Pacific fleet of the United States Navy reached Colon at dawn and prepared to pass Gatun locks after fueling. Dreadnoughts, battleships, and Vermont joined the force, with plans to reach Gatun Lake and Balboa by morning. Crowds lined the harbor as airplanes recorded the approach and Balboa offers welcomed events.
Frontier Park today hosts multiple events starting 1 15 oclock including Wild Burro Riding Fancy Mounted Drill by 15th Cavalry Ladies Stake Race and Fancy and Trick Roping Rifle Calesthanies by 71st Infantry from Fort Russell and various horse and rider lineups with prizes and participants such as Katy Cameron Pauline Irwin Edith Irwin Joella Irwin Mrs Tom May George Brandeis and others noted. The program lists races relays and hippodrome events with entries from J A Parsons Chester B Gundy Harry Walters and more, continuing on page six.
Frontier Park hosted a set of wild west events including a ladies half mile race won by Daisy Parsons with Brat second and Joelia Irwin third. In the Indian buck pace Iron Bull led, Bald Eagle was second, Joe Hand third. A. Parsons won the men’s relay over one and a half miles with Coland and Neelieanaee following. Additional races featured Captain M. W. Watkins, Captain W. F. Good in, and Lieutenant C. V. Clayton in the half mile events with various placements.
Chicago July 25 Federal Judge Page ruled that beer whether non intoxicating remains subject to the wartime prohibition act if it contains at least one half of one percent alcohol He overruled Benson Brewing Co demurrer and the company pleaded not guilty The government calls this a significant victory and that intoxication must be proven by burden of proof in court
Burglars broke into a home on Fred Ay Wilary Avenue and W Nineteenth Street while the family was away. Jewelry, a watch, and cash were stolen. burglars rummaged drawers and dumped contents, even taking beds apart. Several other robberies were reported nearby last night.
New York July 25. The aerial mail pilots strike which began this morning has been called off pending talks in Washington tomorrow by Assistant Postmaster General Praeger and union leaders. Superintendent Stanton of the eastern postal division announced the decision before leaving for Washington by air.
Domingo Mumas and Juan Mumas brothers were arrested at Greeley Colorado late July 26 charged with shooting a third Mexican in the shoulder at Puford last night. The wounded man is in Cheyenne hospital and the pair will be brought to court.
Mrs. Feinimore, mother of Mrs. Pelican, is in the city seeking contact with her daughter who is at Frontier Days celebrations. Despite efforts, they have not yet connected during the hospital stop at St. John's.
A planned ten round boxing bout at the Shehantieona Men's Club in Frontier Park was blocked Friday afternoon by Sheriff Smalley citing a local fight statute. Frank McCerroll and Kid Burne of Casper protested, arguing the event was a boxing match not a mere fight, yet authorities intervened under Wyoming law that bans alleged fighting while not prohibiting boxing.

William F. Miller, 18, of Wyandotte, Michigan, was killed near Rock Springs when he was struck by a train or fell from a moving train while stealing a ride. His body was found beside the track soon after life ended. Miller's papers included a selective service registration card and other documents.
