In Omaha, July 24, Homer S. Cummings, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, urged Nebraska Democrats to unite and press a positive program. He denounced critics of the president as shameful and urged aggressive action, signaling the 1920 campaign has begun.
Miss Edith Ainge of the National Woman's Party sews the eleventh star on the suffrage flag, emblematic purple white and gold. The Missouri star joins Wisconsin Michigan Kansas New York Illinois as ratified states, marking progress for the movement.
Jr. L. Scott known as The Human Fly was arrested by Captain E. F. Allman of Fort Russell before attempting to scale the Citizens National Bank building. Boston plan proposes a forty ninth state named the state of Boston comprising Boston Revere Chelsea and Winthrop. Representative Mas H Brennan of Charlestown submits the bill calling for voter submission on secession to form a separate Boston state. He cites self determination and cites 1879 Republican legislature taxation as justification.
Chicago Mayor William Hale Thompson arrives in Cheyenne with a party of prominent citizens including Charles R. Francis Frank H. Mesce William D B McJunkin James A Fleming and Charles C Fitzmorris secretary to the mayor.
Salem Oregon July 24 Governor Olcott refused to call a special session of the Oregon legislature to ratify the national woman’s suffrage amendment unless a majority of both houses request it voluntarily and cover their own expenses.
Gilmer Texas on July 24 remained quiet following a surge of tension after an attack on a white woman. A young Black man, Filton Jennings, was lynched in the courthouse square after being identified and confessing to the crime.
The official program lists eight events at Frontier Park including Witd Barre Riding Fancy Mounted Drill and Ladies Free-for-all Race. Notable participants include 16th Cavalry Fort Russell riders and Van Gundy and Irwin families with purses up to 125 dollars and prizes from Fred Stone and others. Washington July 24 Speaker Gillette agreed to expunge portions of the Densmore report on the Mooney case to satisfy government printing office objections. The sections to be omitted include conversations in District Attorney Fickert's office, recorded by a dictaphone in Densmore's possession, deemed too inflammatory for printing.
