Cheyenne sees record advance ticket sales for a frontier rodeo show with entries from Washington to Mexico. Ranchman Shot by Friend Near Douglas Wyoming

C B Gilbert a leading ranchman aged about 39 was seriously wounded when a rifle in Dr Robertson s hands discharged accidentally during target practice near Douglas The bullet entered his back and passed through doctors fear possible paralysis though some hope remains The party included Maurice and Charlie Gilbert Clarence McIntosh Miss McIntosh and several children Gilbert s wife recently returned from Denver hospital attended the case in Douglas overnight doctors considered Cheyenne treatment for possible spinal injury.

Guardsmen clash near police HQ after accidental gunfire

A large crowd of National Guard members gathered on Seventeenth Street around 1140 PM neared a confrontation after an accidental discharge by the provost guard lieutenant. Sergeant McFarland ordered restraint and escorted the disturbance back to the station while officers worked to restore order.

Shot By His Wife Over Cooking Dispute in Salt Lake City

As a Crites, a Union Pacific brake man and former city resident, was shot and seriously wounded by his wife in Salt Lake City last Friday evening. The bullet pierced the abdomen and intestines, lodged in the side, and he was rushed to a hospital where the bullet was removed. His condition was critical. The shooting followed an argument when Crites criticised the supper. his wife then fired with a revolver.

Patterson, Former Colorado Senator, Dies at 76

T M Patterson of Colorado, longtime figure in politics and business, died at his home in Denver shortly after 1 pm. He would have turned 77 on November 4. Funeral set for tomorrow at 2 pm. He suffered a stroke two years ago during a Panama Canal trip.

Insurance Agents Strike in New York

Agents and collectors of the Prudential Life Insurance Co. went on strike in New York today, called by the International Insurance Protective association. About 500 in the New York district joined the action with many more expected to follow, seeking higher pay, union recognition, and more reasonable compensation.

New Increases for Army Bill Voted by Senate

Washington July 24 The Senate halted wholesale cuts in the army appropriations bill and approved increases totaling more than 39 million dollars for ordnance equipment and regular army aid to the National Guard. Decreases of 26 million dollars were made for transportation subsistence foreign service pay and emergencies amid sharp exchanges over preparedness. Senator Chamberlain criticized colleagues as colluding with munitions makers while Senator Townsend claimed guardsmen were mobilized under false pretenses and that there was no plan to send them to Mexico.

Motor Races Today At Frontier Park

The Capitol City Motorcycle Club hosts a series of races at Frontier Park starting at 2 PM. A 50 mile feature race on a 1.5 mile track draws top riders including Floyd Clymer and Frank Kunta from Colorado. Street cars to the park aid spectators in reaching the grounds.
