Salt Lake City chosen as next wool grower convention site

At Cheyenne the National Wool Growers selected Salt Lake City as the 1914 convention site and as national headquarters. Officers elected include Frank Hagenbarth of Spencer Idaho as president L L Powers of Flagstaff Arizona as western VP and A J Knollin as eastern VP. Resolutions urged tariff tweaks on wool and pure fabrics laws while opposing meat tariff cuts and leasing public lands.

Bankers Seek Release From Federal Parole Board

One hundred fifty prisoners in the Leavenworth federal penitentiary including five bankers will apply for release at the quarterly parole meeting Monday. The bankers named are Paul C. Gall of Indianapolis Jesse Slerahosky of Pittsburgh E Billingsley of Guthrie Oklahoma and W A Allen of Paris Texas.

Secretary to Orozco Arrested in El Paso

Ricardo Gomez Robelo, secretary to General Orozco, rebel leader, was arrested here tonight for violation of neutrality laws. It is reported here that General Blanco has been captured by rebels. The Hearth ranch manager near Madera appealed to the American government for troops to protect American property and lives.

Mexican minister shows Madero border conditions to U S interests

El Paso reports Minister Lascuraín tours the border with Lloyd C Griscom to explain Mexican conditions in the north to American railway mining and ranch interests. Man Found Guilty of Wife’s Murder in Canon City

Peter Forte was found guilty tonight by a district court jury in Canon City of murdering his young wife Alice. He received a life term with hard labor. Forte disappeared from their home on September 18 and Alice’s buried body was found days later by her brother. The verdict rested on circumstantial evidence.
