Paris reports the resignation of Premier Briand and his cabinet, to take effect Monday. The move follows a confidence vote amid Socialist criticism and a narrow sixteen vote majority, as conservatives warn of radical forces gaining. General Brun’s funeral is set for Monday, delaying the cabinet’s departure.
Western Union will start a day letter service called day lettergrams, priced about half the cost of a 50 word day telegram. Regular day messages will have transmission priority if volumes require deferral. The Postal Service rejects the plan, citing their fast day service and night lettergram as sufficient and no demand for deferred service.
R L McLester reports a gunfight near Buiver City Alabama after six Mexicans armed with pistols tried to rob him. He says he killed three assailants, wounded another, and two fled. McLester was wounded in the shoulder and a posse found blood and spent cartridges but no bodies. The clash allegedly occurred between here and Mogollon.
Chicago lawyer Lorin C. Collins, former Panama supreme court associate justice, charged that President Roosevelt usurped Panama's legislative powers and rules dictatorially. He said the Canal Commission led to executive orders erasing local governance and replacing it with a Civil Administration bureau.

The charge was dereliction of duty in seizing opium on a smaller. It is charged McGibbons faced with ten cane of opium under his coat. In Mexico City, officials said Harry ll would receive a fair trial after his arrest at Tia Juana on spy suspicions.

Chinese crew members aboard the Japanese ship Chiyo Maru reportedly threw overboard a mattress near Honolulu as it sailed Saturday. A small boat’s Chinese followers recovered it and customs officials believe the mattress contained opium worth thousands of dollars. Passengers on the steamer aided authorities upon arrival in San Francisco.
