In Philadelphia on February 24, surface cars operated on main streets guarded by state police during the transit strike. The company counted eighty four cars stoned that day but disturbances remained limited and quickly quelled. New York reports two youths were arrested in connection with a Black Hand letter received by Mrs. Louisine Havemeyer widow of Henry Havemeyer. The missive bore a dagger heart and revolver and threatened to blow up her home, demanding $2000. a box was placed in Central Park and the suspects were nabbed while near it.
Topeka Kan February 34 A F Barker aged 73 was granted a divorce from Mary Barker aged 63 by the district court. Barker testified prayer and Bible study were ruined by his wife refusing to kneel and engage during devotion claiming she was fed up with church life. The judge noted longstanding religious disputes as the core of the marital strain.
Deaver February 24 hog market in Denver sold for 040, up 14 cents from the previous day. Hogs on the Denver market showed price gains amid steady demand.
Reports from Managua say Cap tain Godfrey Fowler former US Army commanded Chamorro artillery and was mortally wounded in the Tiama engagement. insurgent efforts to seize Ti Kap sa bridge described as desperate with Chamorro crossing the river in civilian clothes.
