Three boys were shot and likely fatally wounded during rioting that followed the Rapid Transit Company service restart on Market Street. Cars were stoned, police roughhandled, and the State Pencibles faced mob attacks with muskets seized. A bomb exploded near the company’s barns as unrest continued.
Butte Montana February 22 The Leonard nine the largest mine in Butte resumes operations with engineers in charge of the hoist and ample pumpmen compressor air men fr emen and oilers to insure continuous operation. The West Colusa and Diamond mines will resume tomorrow and Clark properties will resume at once per General Manager Gile of the Amalgamated Copper company.
A pattern storehouse at the Minnequa steel plant of Colorado Fuel and Iron in Pueblo Colorado was destroyed by a fire tonight. Loss put at one million dollars with extensive damage to the facility and surrounding property.
A San Jose paper recounts an 1899 attack on former President Zelaya while aboard the steamer Liverpool near Port Limon Costa Rica. Ignacio Ruzado, a young Nicaraguan, allegedly struck Zelaya with a knife prompting a counterstrike. Witnesses reportedly suppressed the incident in San Jose.
