Washington note recounts Christmas Eve 1918 mood as the nation celebrates peace. Messages from Wilson Pershing Daniels and Hoover join Red Cross plans to send Christmas boxes to every soldier. Navy and Marines leaders offer祝 greetings while calls for lasting goodwill frame the holiday.
West bound trains on the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe route moved tonight as storms eased. Transcontinental service on this line is returning to normal with hope for full restoration by tomorrow. Union Pacific trains from Kansas City were halted between Us, Kansas and Hugo, Colorado. Main UP line between Omaha and Ogden remains open though limited south of Trinidad, Colorado.
Martis Sachs, pioneer of Cheyenne who later resided in Omaha for 16 years, died Thursday in Omaha. He arrived in Cheyenne in 1870 and for years ran the Dyer hotel, succeeding the Fisher family in management. Before leaving Cheyenne he worked for the Idelman brothers as their traveling representative. He leaves four sons.
Hotel men of Cheyenne coordinate with The Plains Moffatt Normandie Metropolitan and Albany to supply a citywide list of available rooms. If hotels cannot accommodate, staff will direct lawmakers to private rooms and assist in finding lodging, in cooperation with the Industrial Club. Details to follow.

Four men robbed diamond merchant Moses Iral son in his Chicago Trust Company building office. They looted gems valued at about 100000 to 125000, bound the men with wire, fled in an auto, and a bystander fired when challenged in an alley. One assailant may have been wounded.
Paris December 24 The first cavalry brigade of Belgian troops entered Germany for the first time as they crossed into Dusseldorf. The Belgian war office announced the action amid reports of advancing forces on the Western Front.
The forecast calls for Wednesday and Thursday with not much change in temperatures. A light breeze is possible with dry conditions expected across the region.
Paris Dec 24 An international bureau formed to secure uniform principles for a league of nations to be presented at the peace congress. British French American Italian groups plan consolidation with Earl Grey presiding. Representatives aim for compulsory arbitration and disarmament with dispute over economic penalties and enforcement by military force.
Fourteen carloads of Christmas packages from the United States arrived for American troops in the area. Distribution will start immediately by motor trucks and railroads, with hundreds of soldiers aiding post office clerks. Over 200 Knights of Columbus and YMCA entertainers are en route to provide Christmas day amusement for soldiers in occupied territory.
J A Parnell returned from Denver with the funeral of his son in law Alex Duthie killed by an insane man in Livingston. The slayer Bert Lee alias Ben Hamilton was identified by a Knoxville telegram as an asylum escapee who had murdered his father in law over two years earlier. The December 20 service in Jayestown drew 700 Northern Pacific employees and locals in a record showing of respect.
President Wilson announces to Americans in Paris that the allied cause remains hopeful for a just peace and a permanent settlement. He notes morale among troops and the strong public desire for world peace, expressing optimism at home and abroad. Prince Conrad von Hohenlohe Seillingsver still serves in a government role in Tyrol when news breaks of a sudden incident at Helmarken.
