A city Labor Day celebration is planned with a Labor Sunday worship, a mammoth Labor Day parade at 1 20 PM, a baseball game at Pioneer Park between Cheyenne Indians and Sidney Nebr, a carnival, and evening dances. Contests include races, tug of war, nail driving, egg race, and wheelbarrow events.
Governor Shafroth and Mayor Speer lauded Theodore Roosevelt with unqualified endorsement before thousands at the Y Auditorium in Denver. Roosevelt addressed veterans, spoke on conservation and water power sites, criticized corporate power, and urged federal control to prevent monopolies amid the 1904 Spanish War Veterans convention.

Aug. 29. A mobster named Soho Williams, mine foreman, his two daughters aged 16 and 12, and a girl aged years were fatally asphyxiated by noxious gas within two hundred feet of a mine tunnel mouth. The tunnel runs about six miles from the mine and is 2,500 feet long. Williams and his daughters were returning from the face of the tunnel when overcome near the open tile at night.
Pittsburgh August 24 1900 an engineer Sarael Brandt of engine No 8 stabilizes a runaway train near a depot. A steam pipe heat scorched his hands and face and broke his toe but he prevented a crash by repairing a leak and keeping the train from derailing.

Theophil Reuther testified that G Rahn held 2,000 Oster man company shares and described being slugged by Henry Oster man as he warned of railroad robbery disclosures. The case targets Frank Harris man Charles Hwing and John M Taylor, former Milneis Central officials.
Rawlins August 2 A locomotive pulling the second section of train No 57 struck the caboose of the first section near Hillelde smashing a caboose and two cars. Three trainmen were injured all described as unknown.
In New York on August 29 the cotton market surged as August options jumped 162 points equaling $7.00 per bale, the highest price ever for cotton.
