Paris reports the Bolsheviki army’s collapse as 380000 fugitives remain from the Warsaw campaign. Poland has captured 80000 prisoners and seized vast quantities of awe and material, signaling potential long-term Russian industrial disruption and a struggle to regain equipment for renewed effort.
The United States formally asks Poland to declare its intention to abstain from territorial aggression against Russia. Charles E Fairchilds seeks injunction to restrain proclamation of Tennessee ratification awaiting Governor Roberts certification. Smith says no immediate Supreme Court action is planned while preparations for appeals continue.
Denver August 25 A funeral was halted as James Thompson of Westminster died after a five day illness. His 16 year old widow Mrs Virginia Thompson was arrested by Adams County Sheriff A E Gormley as autopsy results showed no poison. The widow was held pending autopsy findings then ordered released. investigation allegedly urged by the deceased’s parents and advised by the physician.
The League of the Southwest formed a committee led by Utah Governor Simon Bamberger to craft a regional program for irrigation and power protection. Wyoming Secretary of State W B Chaplin and Arizona resources chief Simon B. Gillette joined, amid debate over Mexico drawing 100000 to 800000 acre feet of Colorado River water without payment.
A Cork message says Lord Mayor McSweeney collapsed Wednesday afternoon and his wife was urgently summoned to Brixton prison London where he is on a hunger strike. The note was read at the Cork corporation meeting Wednesday night.
