Food prices rise in March as perils of War fade

Washington reports food prices advanced in March after hopes for normal levels. The bureau of labor statistics notes 22 food items averaged two percent higher than February and 44 percent higher than March 1918. Butter rose after February dip. flour bacon lard and cornmeal up over 100 percent since 1943.

Disturber Fails in Intimidation of Officer

John Emberson was arrested on a disturbance charge at the Florence home and fined 815 by Police Judge Swaina yesterday afternoon. Patrolman Wyncoop confronted Emberson in his room and retrieved a revolver after the suspect threatened the officer.

Mr and Mrs Jones appeared in the police court yesterday afternoon after a domestic dispute left superficial injuries on both. Jones was fined $30 while Mrs Jones was discharged.

Three Held On Charge of Attempted Robbery
