Monofigah West Virginia December 9 Rescue teams recovered 66 bodies from two wrecked mines as night fell. Officials expected about 100 more to be recovered by daylight. A fire was extinguished at noon and families gathered, wailing as funerals began amid the ongoing sorrow.
In Pittsburgh a divorce case naming Mrs. A Hart McKee accuses the wealthy husband of penury while noting a lavish gift pattern with letters to Dear Santa Claus and Sweetheart Santa. The tale follows his earlier Denver divorce and Paris residence after first marriage.
Union Pacific announces a new branch to Yellowstone National Park linking Idaho Falls to Yellowstone and extending travel from Omaha with daily trains. The line targets summer tourism and expects about 60,000 eastern travelers through Omaha, with up to five daily trains from Salt Lake City during peak season.

The swedish crown prince Gustave becomes king Oscar Gustave Adolph after the death of his father. Born June 16 1858 he wed Victoria of Baden on September 20 1881. He is described as tall unassuming and fond of lawn tennis.
Cheyenne Lodge No. 660 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held a special session with a class of candidates from Douglas Hartville Wheatland and Guernsey in the afternoon. A regular session followed with a smoker in the evening, including refreshments and entertainment past midnight.

Allentown Pennsylvania December 9 Lehigh Valley line collided with a freight train near Parryville. Engine driver Calvin Frederick aged 38 died from injuries and his fireman and a brakeman were badly scalded. Frederick, to marry Laura Rolmesnyder of Williamsport in Christmas week, had complained of head pains before the crash.
Washington reports the Senate and House adjourned after a brief session with little business. The House delayed until Thursday, adjourning after only the introduction of bills. The Senate left after deferring further action until tomorrow, with no votes or major measures completed.
Denver boosters vow a tougher bid for the Democratic National Convention after missing the Republican bid. The Denver convention league plans to present a similar proposition with Colorado speakers and a $100,000 fund for national committee and convention expenses at Arlington House, Washington.

Bailey longtime postmaster and prominent resident will soon become totally blind due to an ulcer destroying his left eye after a prior accident in 1896 that left his right eye ruined. The disease traces to his service with the Wyoming Volunteer Artillery in the Philippine islands.
In Lexington Kentucky two mob members who set fires in Hopkinsville were killed by officers early this morning. Soldiers guard the city as authorities continue a region wide search for the raiders and citizens rally to support the crackdown.
Government Wind River Dinwoody ditch project nears completion in Riverton Wyoming. The 18 mile irrigation canal will reclaim 10 000 acres for Shoshone and Arapaho lands and water delivery is planned before next spring. Two night riders shot dead this morning signaling tougher arrests and renewed citizen resolve.
Capt. William Riess, for an Indianapolis syndicate with Wind river placer holdings, went east to buy a gold dredge and equipment costing about 75 000 to 90 000 dollars and another 25 000 dollars. Tests show placer yields from 50 cents to 15 dollars per cubic yard and bedrock not yet reached.
Winlock Washington police pursued two burglars who fled after triggering a local alarm. Constable T F McFadden was seriously wounded as the pair opened fire, and a surrounding posse killed the suspects in the woods. both men are believed to be professional yeggs.
San Francisco, Dec 9. Janes Dalzell Brown, vice president and general manager of the California Safe Deposit and Trust company, has been joined in jail by W. J. Barnett, director of the suspended institution. President David F. Walker is under arrest at Santa Barbara and will be brought back to San Francisco under guard. Walker says overwork and worry affected his health and denies any wrongdoing. All three are charged with embezzlement.
Special to The Lendir reports thirty laborers from Theaver were brought to Hock Springs by Denver agents as part of deception. They were promised work on a Union Pacific roundhouse project, each paying a one dollar commission, but upon arrival found the project halted and no jobs available.
Twenty four jurors were sworn in and seated by Judge R N Matson for the December Term criminal docket amid record speed. The first case State vs Herbert W Harper, charged with murder of Emil Cossi, was postponed to 9:30 this morning to allow jury selection. Attorneys on both sides are listed. prosecution led by County Attorney M Watts with J W Dyer as special assistant.
Vice president Daniel Willard of the Burlington says there are more than 6,000 idle cars and the company can flood service if coal shortages hit. He notes 4,000 cars being built and 10,000 extra cars ready in emergencies, with 160 locomotives idle in round houses. He spoke after inspecting the Billings line before returning to Lincoln.
Evanston authorities report Dero Owen Daviteon from Kemmerer is held after forging checks worth around Sine. County jail records allege the Kemmerer men forged the checks, with local officials continuing investigation.
