Accident Claim Three Lives In Highway Collision
Three men died in a head on crash on September 15 1983 about 9 kilometres south of Gwillam Lake on the Chetwynd to Tumbler Ridge Highway. The deceased are 47 year old Pat Allan Murray of Moberly Lake 41 year old Andre Joseph Gervais of Tumbler Ridge the passenger in Murray s pickup and 31 year old Parry Dennis Andrews of Tumbler Ridge driver of the other pickup. RCMP spokesman noted seatbelts were available and wearing them might have prevented fatalities.

District of Chetwynd Emergency Program Plan
The Municipal Emergency Program for Chetwynd began in 1965 to extend updated plans and prep. It aims to coordinate resources and assist others during disasters. It lists potential emergencies such as forest fires, train derailments, hazmats, blizzards, blackouts, floods, gas leaks, oil spills and explosions. Volunteers are urged to register to support the plan. A public meeting is set for Thursday evening September 22 at 7:30 pm at the Ai Building with Mayor Lasser, regional manager Barry from Prince George, and others presenting progress.
