District Council hears two delegations on PEP and awards

The September 6 1983 District Council meeting had two delegations. Bobbie Larsen outlined PEP progress and volunteer opportunities while noting files stored at the Victoria parliament building. Ernie Stagg earned a 97.5 percent average qualifying as a BC search master. An expected certificate for Emil Anderson was postponed. A letter from R D Sequens of P R A H T A discussed a potential hotel or motel picture for tourism guides.

North Central Raceways Park hosts the 3rd Annual Prince George Truck and Equipment Truck Loggers National on September 18 at 10 am. Prizes include 1000 for winner, 500 for runner up, 250 for third. Conservative Appointment to Shandon Cabinet Franks Oberle Says

Frank Oberle MP for Prince George Peace River was named party spokesman for mines in the Progressive Conservative cabinet on Wednesday. He expresses delight at joining the team shaping policy for the next general election and notes the mines portfolio heightens his interest in forestry issues and federal agricultural policy including Crow rate changes. He also praises John Fraser taking on environmental responsibilities as minister in 1979.

Canfor seeks Tree Farm Licence for Chetwynd Division

Canfor foresters seek a Tree Farm Licence to manage 819000 hectares of Crown land in the Peace River region by rolling over existing timber licences. A public hearing may follow after December 1980 submission. AAC could rise 2100000 cubic meters in about two decades with rehab of idle lands.

R-2000 energy home opens in Chetwynd

The first energy efficient R-2000 home in Chetwynd opened on September 7 with Bob White, Mayor Lasser, and dignitaries attending. Built by D and B White Construction, the house features Tyvek wrap, triple glazed thermal windows, insulation, and a Vanee heat exchanger. Energy saving traits suit other plans. 300 such homes planned nationwide by 1983. viewing times posted through October 5.

Canadian Finals Drag Meet crowns Dale Phillips in SCT class

Dale Phillips won the Canadian Championship in the S.S.T. class at the Canadian Finals Drag Meet in Prince George B C. The event hosted by AHRA drew cars from across Canada and the U S with four categories. Glen Robertson of Grande Prairie won Pro Comp while Al Beamer of Dawson Creek won the fastest car fun event.
