Nissho-Iwai studies area flyers to play exhibition here

Mr. C E Sawyer of Vancouver, VP and GM of Coalition Mines, hosted a dinner for Nissho-Iwai personnel. He praised their 15 year travel effort and urged cross national business exchanges to improve languages and Pacific communications. He pledged long term community involvement and ecological consideration.

Scout movement meeting called

The Chetwynd Gymkhana Club will hold its last Gymkhana of the year on September 24 at 1 30 PM at the Rodeo Grounds. If rain halts the date the event shifts to October 1st.

Annette Girard Leads Baton Instruction in Community Hall

Annette Girard will be directing baton lessons in Baton this year. A Susan Hoffman School graduate, she studied at Kyte Frances School of Baton in Edmonton last summer and aided Susan with young twirlers previously. She earned three Peace River Arts Festivals gold certificates, shared the Drill Team trophy twice, and holds a 1972 Honors Pin along with several medals and awards. Chetwynd Groups, Hogs Plans, and Flyers Update

The Peace River Liard Regional District notes minor baseball gathering with Father and Son Banquet at Legion Hall on Sept 26 at 6 30 p m. Chetwynd Grain and Feed Ltd abandons Hog Feeding Operation plans 112 miles east of Chetwynd boundary due to local opposition and land use issues. Jim Tompkins of the Fort St John Flyers says club status will be clear in four weeks as teams have until Oct 10 to decide at a Rycroft meeting. The Flyers aim to move to North Peace Arena after its completion and may play some games in Chetwynd. league play starts around Nov 18 with about 32 games per club.

Windrem Secondary sees enrollment uptick despite vacancies

Registration at Windrem Secondary School rises modestly from June end totals with Septembers figures showing 481 students, up 37. The school lists 24 teachers with six new hires and one remedial reading post unfilled. Fifteen Academic program students wrote Government exams last June, thirteen met graduation requirements, three attend Notre Dame University of Nelson and one Camrose College.

Warfield Wins Top Municipal Safety Award in B C Competition

Warfield village secured the highest overall score earning the Award of Merit and the WCB Municipal Safety Shield after leading three classes. Greenwood won the City category and Hudson's Hope topped the District class at the U B C annual meeting in Vancouver on September 13. Windrem Elementary adds staff, Don Titus and Moberly Lake classrooms share a special orientation role, with 217 students enrolled at Don Titus, down from 228 in 1971, and grade distributions listed.
