The Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce held its first annual meeting focusing on protecting businesses from break ins. Speaker Cathy Norris outlined a five point security checklist and urged proactive planning, neighbourly input, and RCMP collaboration. The chamber will lead the Citizens on Patrol effort with calls for local participation.
The RCMP say on September 15 2001 a lone male used a syringe to rob Winks Confectionary twice and a car wash once in Chetwynd taking small cash amounts and cigarettes. Dale Ronald Courteille 31 of Chetwynd is charged with three counts of armed robbery and one theft under 5000 remanded to appear in Dawson Creek on September 19 2001.
