Gas leak halts in Chetwynd after excavator hit line
On September 10 in Chetwynd a gas leak occurred at Highway 29 when an excavator struck a 2 inch line during 50th Avenue work by Intercoast Utilities. BC Gas crews arrived by 3:30 pm and controlled the leak at 7:27 pm despite valve resistance and safety concerns. Local officials criticized response time amid wind driven dispersion and evacuation considerations.
