Closure of Chetwynd Employment Centre Raises Uncertainty
One month after the federal government announced the closing of the Canada Employment Centre in Chetwynd, officials seek alternatives. The Liberal plan to replace the centre with computer kiosks may affect the Pine River Gas Plant expansion and its 2000 anticipated workers. Mayor Barb Shirley cites three replacement ideas including a job registration centre at Northern Lights College.
