Chetwynd Placed On Polluter List By Province
District of Chetwynd has been added to British Columbia Environment Ministry's polluter list after tests showed sewage effluent guideline violations at Pine River. Officials cited aerator pump failures in lagoons beginning last summer, leaving pumps largely nonfunctional by August 1994 and causing high biological oxygen demand and low river oxygen levels impacting fish survival.
