Northern areas tax benefits report submitted to minister
The Task Force on Tax Benefits for Northern and Isolated Areas has submitted its report to Minister of Finance Michael Wilson. It recommends eligibility for tax benefits for people in truly northern areas including Yukon, Northwest Territories, Labrador and northern portions of several provinces. The commission notes the program should attract people to northern jobs and criticizes prior geographic rules as unfair. A toll free number 1-800-267-5180 provides questions about recommendations.
