Woodlot groups honor licensees at B C gathering
The Federation of BC Woodlot Associations held its annual meeting in Kamloops with all forest regions represented. Twenty nine woodlot licensees received regional and district level awards for outstanding management. Dale Benke and George Kalischuk from Chetwynd earned District Certificates. Kalischuk, a 28 year forest service veteran, has a woodlot near the Alberta border. The program rewards management, compliance, community involvement and profitability.

The short questionnaire covers political social and economic developments quality of life health education and economic outlook for the next century.

Northerners to be surveyed on future development at UNBC
UNBC ran a randomized survey across British Columbia to capture northerners views on future development and how the region can advance. The Institute for Social Research and Evaluation notes the study compares northern and southern BC residents and international results, with responses due by November 19, 1999 and results released next year.

Canadian Tire to Open Store in Dawson Creek
Dawson Creek and Canadian Tire announce a new store at the old Case building site between McDonald's and A W in Dawson Creek. The 21,400 sq ft retail space will include a 9,700 sq ft garden centre and 8 bay service centre with 8,300 sq ft warehouse, employing 40 to 50 people.
