Village TV fund reaches forty thousand toward goal
The Chamber of Commerce T V Committee has secured 40000 from major employers and contributors toward a 99000 target. A further 15000 remains to be collected before full payment. A two channel earth station has been ordered from Crowder Communications Ltd and will be activated once paid. Donations can be made at local banks or by phone. cheques to the T V Trust Fund.

Cabinet approves 1980 property tax assessment changes
Finance Minister Evan Walfe announced cabinet approved changes to assessment and property tax policies to take effect in 1980. Gate failure delays Peace Canyon dam outlet closure
BC Hydro lowered the Peace Canyon reservoir to inspect a diversion outlet gate that would not close. A blocking device shifted back into the open position due to vibration, delaying closure. Inspections will occur before refilling, but generating unit commissioning is not expected to be delayed beyond December.

Little Prairie Store Landmark Disappears in Chetwynd
In Chetwynd a landmark, the Little Prairie Store and Post Office, long part of the town’s heart, is being replaced for progress. The Campbell and Pfanner building opened in 1949 and hosted bus stops, post office, and community events. A TV Trust Fund Day at New Blue Sky Restaurant on Oct 31 will donate half of proceeds to the Chamber of Commerce fund.
