Chetwynd Gymkhana Club awards night results 1999

The 30th Annual Awards Night of the Chetwynd Gymkhana Club was held October 16 at the Legion. Jessica Anderson swept Colts in multiple events. Tina Martens and Krystal Campbell led in PeeWees and Juniors respectively. Senior and Novice categories saw multiple winners. Runners-up were named in Barrels Poles Keyhole Flags Stakes Quadrangle and Novely. Trophies went to Chanel Trenholm Most Improved Colt Rider, Sherry Trenholm Sportsmanship, and Steve Anderson for the Torn T Shirt Contest.

Critters and beasties of Moberly Lake

The fall weather keeps feeders quiet with blue jays visiting to stash seeds, chickadees occasionally stopping by, and natural feeding remaining common to save costs. A grebe and young loon visit, the grebe wary of intruders while the loon watches from a safe distance. A dying colony of bright green algae leaves brown bubbles on rocks near the spring. Yellow jackets buzz near water, and birds' nests are now visible along the path, including a robin’s old nest in a saskatoon bush and a yellow warbler nest in a soapberry tree.
