Deadline nears for applications for BC Winter Festival

Red Cross offers volunteer training for aquatic programs
The Red Cross launches a province wide program with a one day clinic for volunteers at Centennial Pools Dawson Creek on Saturday October 29 and Fort St John on Sunday October 26. Training runs 9 am to 2 pm and covers pool work films lectures and discussions. No swimming skills required and credits toward instructor recertification are possible. Minor ball holds wind up feast at Legion Hall
About two hundred players, parents, and guests attended a wind up banquet at the Legion Hall. Pastor Carl Smock gave the invocation and Abe Weibe from Chetwynd Secondary School spoke on happiness in Little League. He urged patience with young players and cautioned parents against pressuring wins.

Highway contract awarded for Prince George to Tabor Lake route
Northern Affairs Minister Alf Nunweiler announced Miller Cartage and Contracting Limited of Richmond BC won the $3,356,445 contract to build the first section of the re routing of Highway 16 from Prince George to Tabor Lake. He called the award a start toward reducing safety hazards in the Tabor Lake and Blackburn School area. Also noted are holiday travels and new residents in town including Mr and Mrs Sulz and their family, with Sulz working as Bank of Commerce manager.
