Brascan seeks more coal reserves in B.C. area
Brascan Resources Ltd a major partner with the Coalition Mines Group has hired Petko Geological Services Ltd to prove up additional coal reserves in the Sukunka River region. Peter Antonenko of Dawson Creek heads the firm and will supervise a two month drill program using portable truck mounted diamond core drills from Vancouver. He has provided geology supervision for Quasar Petroleum in the Monkman Pass area for two years and will continue when drilling resumes this winter.

Lions club sells out 500 a month pool tickets
The Chetwynd Lions report all 200 memberships in their 500 a Month Club sold before the first draw on September 20 at the Special Draw Dance. Draws run monthly through August 1976 with prizes of 500, 1000 and more as tickets circulate, funding a portable swimming pool for next summer.

Mercy flights carry 251 patients on 244 missions in 1974
A total of 251 severely ill patients were moved on 244 mercy flights in 1974, up nearly 30 percent from 1973. Federal aircraft performed 61 percent, B C government planes 20 percent, with the rest by commercial firms under health department arrangements. No province wide free ambulance service exists. evacuations require Rescue Coordination Centre approval via 732-4141, with a doctor on call advising each case. Without prior authorization, the government cannot cover costs.

Peace Wood Products Plans Major Expansion

Big drop in loadings at British Columbia Railway in September
