Oberle Campaign Nearly Reaches Across Prince George Peace River
Frank Oberle, Progressive Conservative candidate, has traveled 4300 miles through the Prince George Peace River riding since late August. The riding spans 700 miles by road, reaches to Lower Post near the Yukon border and to 16 miles from Jasper Alberta, including Dawson Creek Ft St John Ft Nelson Chetwynd McBride Mackenzie Valemount and Prince George. The riding has about 108000 people with 54000 voters and Oberle plans further stops before returning to campaign HQ in Prince George.

September loadings set record for BC Railway
British Columbia Railway reported September loadings of 10 830, the highest for any September in company history. Grain products copper ores and concentrates logs plywood wood chips machinery wood pulp paper and chemicals all rose versus last September. First nine months totals rose 6.8 percent from 90 618 to 96 811.

Several vehicles in town carried results of a successful hunting trip. Florence Nicholson of Chetwynd marks her 80th birthday on November 21, 1972 with invitations to friends. Bea Kurjata and children plan to move to Fort Nelson after early November. Stan Kurjata has been in Fort Nelson for the past year. Bob Hanson hosts his parents Elmer Hanson of Rowan Montana and his brother’s family from Wheaton Illinois. The family enjoys musical piano sessions. Churches collect canned goods for Christmas hampers. Clara Moore Brenda and Carrie Fowler return from visits to Victoria Creston and other BC towns. Square Dancers attract a good turnout with Gene Wilkinson filling in for Don Krebs. Wednesday dances at Windrem gym invite new members. At a special meeting on Oct 6 1972 Village Council discussed establishing a full motor license office in the village. The plan would offer new registrations out of province vehicle transfers sales tax collection and license renewals with tests and photo services handled by the Driver Examiner visiting Chetwynd Hudsons Hope and the village office. Appointments for licenses and tests could be arranged at the Village Office with the examiner visiting Chetwynd monthly and Hudsons Hope every two months.

Farmers to receive aid after harvest damage visit
Agriculture minister Dave Stupid toured Peace country to inspect crop damage from hail this summer in Taylor and from September snow that flattened standing crops. Government sources indicate possible compensation for farmers with heavy losses as ND party officials finish the minister's itinerary.
