No prayers in Surrey schools
Surrey British Columbia trustees debated abolishing Lord's Prayer and Bible readings in schools with a motion to substitute a moment of silence or the national anthem or both. Debate cited lack of constituent surveys and calls for reconsideration while some urged retention of the prayer. The issue was defeated but a trustee warned it is not dead. Separately, notes on spider webs explain liquid protein used to form spirals and spokes for catching prey.

Chetwynd Local History Glimpses Through Decades
Twenty years ago in 1959 a local death underscored traffic issues in Chetwynd and calls for lamps sidewalks and a 30 mile speed zone. New motels and shops arose downtown as Mr and Mrs Mitchell planned a twenty unit Auto Court and Miss Shirley Anderson opened a beauty parlor alongside Stirling's Hardware. Fifteen years ago in 1964 plans for a 22 unit apartment block by Rondon Holdings and a municipal building for the village emerged while Premier Bennetts Yukon expansion proposals stirred debate. Ten years ago in 1969 council delayed backing a Dawson Creek designated area amid school staffing turnover and park maintenance talks. Five years ago in 1974 airport progress and crown subdivision sales dominated council notes with a Vancouver hospital clinic visiting.
