Farewell to Bill and Betty Beers in Lone Prairie Valley
In 1967 our families moved into Lone Prairie Valley where the Beers were established amid neighbors like Werner Warnke and Lloyd Fowler. We lacked electricity and melted snow for water in winter. Each June flood washed out the Twidwell bend bridge and debris once carried it away. A month-long helicopter delivered groceries and emergency radio. Bill Beers, about 60, led baseball offerings. Betty served cake and coffee. In 1974 the community planned to get hydro in Lone Prairie, with the BEERS project beginning.
