They reported air balancing work in progress due November and approved replacing sterilizer and film processor in X ray service at about 55000.00. Downtown revitalization planned for Chetwynd
The District of Chetwynd eyes a five year Downtown Revitalization, funded by a $5,000 start up grant from Municipal Affairs. An Advisory Committee of merchants, residents and officials drafted a concept to transform the core from Chetwynd Court Motel to 52nd Street Cenotaph corner, including a plaza, washrooms, a restaurant, a farmers market, lighting, band concerts and an open ice rink. Two concepts were shown and one likely will be chosen, with first phase focusing on 50th Avenue, 52nd Street and nearby access points.

The consultants prepared a new concept for Council and public presentation. After merchant and owner approval of the recommended scheme, a by law area is passed and the proposal goes to the Provincial Government for Downtown Revitalization Program approval. Upon approval, District and merchants-owners qualify for a Capital Improvement Loan at 7 percent.
Bob Shirley Leads Civic Election Polls At Chetwynd
Chetwynd turnout 42.3 percent with 471 ballots cast from 1121 eligible voters. About 60 registered on election day. Northern Lights College calendars include courses and seminars with dates in late November and December, including Air Brakes, Typing, Job Search Seminar, Crafts, Karate, CPR, and Beekeeping. Dawson Creek Election Results for City Council and Library
Sam Side received 1,409 votes from 1,956 voters in Dawson Creek mayoral and council race. Incumbents Ray Downie and Rose Wilson won with 857 and 841 votes, while Peter Diemert lost with 787. Newcomers Rupert Kirk 453, Hugh Cooper 438, Jim Black 396. Library vote favored municipal status 1,200 to 500. Time zone referendum unresolved.
