Peace River South named literacy leader in North America
School District 59 in Peace River South earns a chapter in a new education book by Dr. Janet Mort adjunct professor at Vancouver Island University. The district’s pioneering primary literacy project centers on literacy numeracy inquiry based learning and social emotional learning with 85 percent of primary teachers involved. The goal is 90 percent of 2013 kindergarten entrants reading writing and using numbers at grade four by 2017.
