Two campers rescued as Pine River overflows near Hasler Flats
Two May long weekend campers were rescued Monday morning after the Pine River overflowed its banks near Hasler Flats leaving them stranded in a hunting cabin. Water rose over four feet overnight after heavy rain. RCMP reported flooding west of the Hasler Road railway tracks. North Peace Search and Rescue from Fort St John helped with swift water rescue. Both campers were unharmed. one received mild hypothermia treatment. Flood watches were issued for the Moberly River near Fort St John and for Pine River near East Pine and tributaries to the Peace River around Hudson's Hope Taylor and west of Fort St John as more rain was forecast. River levels are expected to rise rapidly this week.
