Donation drive for Slave Lake Friday

Local businesswoman Kelli Mounsey organizes aid for Slave Lake wildfire evacuees. Donations of non perishables toiletries baby items toys water and clothing are requested at 4104 52a Avenue or at High Country Inn Friday 10 am to 6 pm with Victim Services. Cash gifts via Athabasca County or Red Cross accepted and receipts issued. Emergency shelters operate in Westlock High Prairie Peace River and Edmonton.

Quilters aid Haiti with new project in Chetwynd

Darlene Gerry brought Kim O Dwyers quilt mission to Quintessential Quilters Guild in Chetwynd. Members eagerly agreed and have made about 10 quilts in a month. First batch heads to Haiti next month with a second due in August. O Dwyer, a former Rolla resident and Dawson Creek nurse, outlines a rapid, life changing journey.
