Foot and Mouth precautions urged in Canada
The Canadian Cattlemen's Association urges travelers farmers and ranchers to prevent Foot and Mouth disease spread to Canada. The disease affects cloven-hoofed animals and is highly contagious with serious production losses. Travelers should declare animal products and disinfect clothing and footwear. Farm visits from those who have been in affected countries are restricted for 30 days. Canada last faced an outbreak in 1952. The Cattle Identification Program uses official ear tags for tracing.
