Jenkins shown release marks end of major league run
Ferguson Jenkins, a Canadian baseball icon and Cy Young winner, was released unconditionally by the Chicago Cubs after a 22-year career. The 40-year-old right hander, who posted 284 wins and 226 losses with five clubs, said he may return home to Canada as family considerations rise. Cubs general manager Dallas Green cited a waning performance last season and the inevitability of the release, noting Jenkins’ storied career and potential future Hall of Fame consideration.
