Knowles Embree wed in Chetwynd Evangelical Free Church

Beverly Jean Knowles and Victor Barry Embree married on March 11 at the Evangelical Free Church of Chetwynd with Pastor Fred Walton officiating. The couple, both of Chetwynd roots, celebrated a reception at Hotel Chetwynd banquet room and departed for Grande Prairie.

Cubs and Scouts Annual Breakfast a Tremendous Success

Continued from page one enjoyable evening the Cubs and Scouts annual Breakfast at the Elks Hall drew over two hundred parents and friends who enjoyed pancakes and sausages. Credit goes to planners and cooks. Reminders include Candy stripers meeting March 22 at 7 p m and hospital candy due at the Hotel by 2 p m October 22. River MLA disputes minister claim of farmers in clover

MLA reports River quotes the Minister of Agriculture mischaracterizing BC farmers as in clover. The minister calls the report false and says such reporting is inaccurate. Letter writers praise Royal Canadian Legion Branch 258 for a 75 dollar gift toward buying a videotape machine for Chetwynd Schools. Borrie elected chairman of Indian Affairs committee

Bob Borrie M P was elected Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Indian Affairs Northern Development on February 29. He succeeds Ian Watson M P who became Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue. The 20 member panel is party balanced and Borrie’s nomination won unanimous support.

STOP Club Seeks Members In Chetwynd

The STOP club in Chetwynd marks half a year with dues due for the next six months. Weigh-ins occur at 7 30 with exercises at 8 p m in the Home Ec Room of the Secondary School. New members must be over weight.
