Ray and Glen Bedell were charged with assault causing bodily harm after a barroom brawl on March 4. They pleaded not guilty in court last Thursday and the case was remanded to April 7. George Tremblay, a hotel waiter, sustained a severely broken jaw and other injuries, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Alderman and trustee Ernie Pfanner says Chetwynd is three months overdue on about $24,000 in school levy to the school board. He urged payment, noting past protests by late remittances. Council agrees to raise the issue with the board and expects alignment with village finances.

Chetwynd skiers returned from the weekend ski meet at Fort St John with four wins. Bradley Westgate took second in Midget Boys with 36.2, Eddie Schrieber was third in Junior Boys at 37.3, Brent Westgate second in a 85.39, and Gunther Klaus posted the best time 74.1 to win Senior Men's Open. Jimmy Schrieber and Ricky Schrieber also competed but fell. other contestants included Ross Turner Charlie Elden and Rod Hanson.
The Chetwynd Boxing club returned from Beverledge with four trophies. Axel Reding won two, Kevin Fowler won one as did Mark L Heureux.
