Charities to benefit from unclaimed property changes
A provincial deal transfers unclaimed property management from government to the Vancouver Foundation via a new British Columbia Unclaimed Property Society. The foundation will distribute funds to BC charities after owners are sought, with about 30 million dollars yearly currently granted to nonprofits. The change preserves owner rights while shifting administration to a public charity with 60 years of endowment experience.
