Local man Chester Cardinal jailed in two cocaine trafficking cases
In Dawson Creek Provincial Court on February 14 2003 Chester Benjamin Cardinal was convicted of possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and later of trafficking in Cocaine after police observed him selling drugs. A second search on December 12 2002 yielded more cocaine and cash. He received a 28 month sentence plus a ten year firearm prohibition and asset forfeiture. Cpl Neil Hogg of the Chetwynd RCMP commended the community for support.

One injured in Canfor fire at midnight
Denise Briggs reports a fire at Canfor halted work at midnight on February 25. The blaze damaged a wall and roof area of the planet but was contained by sprinklers. one employee slightly injured grabbing a hose. No smoke inhalation or serious burns, three hours to extinguish. damage not yet priced, not expected to be costly. Fire Chief deemed the incident non suspicious. Plants back to work Wednesday morning.

Vandalism on North Access Road in Chetwynd
The Chetwynd RCMP report wilful damage between February 26 evening and February 27 dawn. Suspects used red spray paint to deface All West Glass garage door, signs, snow, and Rec Center wall with profanity. Call (250) 788-9221 with information. Cst. Curtis Ashford, Chetwynd RCMP.
