Communities receive art grants in British Columbia
Sixty nine community arts councils in British Columbia will receive nearly $350 000 in grants from the BC Cultural Fund Recreations and Conservation Minister Sam Rawlinf says the funds support arts programs at local and non professional levels He adds there is growing interest and development in the arts in British Columbia and that provincial assistance is necessary for these activities The grants come from interest on a $20 million fund and provincial lottery funds which account for over 40 percent of the total

Carnival queen contest at Ice Carnival 1978
The Little Giant Figure Skating Club presents three candidates Tanis Coss Debbie Gladue and Rolene Best for the Carnival queen title to be decided at the March 18 and 19 event. Youth Dies After Tourney Collapse in Fort St. John
Funeral services were held in Chetwynd for Allan Calliou a 15 year old who collapsed during a weekend school basketball tournament in Fort St. John. An autopsy cited asphyxia from inhaling a small piece of apple. About 120 attended the opening session.
