Mayors Attend Emergency Planning Conference in Arnprior
Alderman Joan Temple will attend the federal Conference of Mayors and Elected Officials at the Federal Study Centre in Arnprior Ontario from July 4 to 7 1983. The four day sessions bring together 30 to 35 elected leaders from provinces and territories to study civil emergency preparedness planning and operations across federal provincial and municipal levels.

Crime prevention program starts in Chetwynd
The RCMP under New Employment, Exposition and Development begins a crime prevention project on June 27 1983. Barrier replacement debated at highway intersection meeting
At the June 21 1983 Regular Council meeting Ron Grant District Technician of the Department of Highways discussed replacing the barrier at the Highway 29 and Highway 97 intersection. He warned the barrier would be a hazard to Chetwynd residents due to heavy traffic and suggested sending a letter to the Ministry of Transportation and Ways. A pedestrian crossing was noted as possible.
